Budget Opinion: Indian Government Giving Emphasis to Urban Security Infrastructure

By Sandesh Kaup, Country Manager, Milestone Systems, India & SAARC

The general 2021 budget is a holistically pro-growth, pro-technology budget with a strong focus on Digital India, which sets the foundation for a digitized economy.

Specifically, we welcome the plans for airport privatization which I believe will give impetus to the airport security infrastructure. Also, the allocation of Rs 18,000-crore for building 8,500 km of roads and highways will help augment public transportation in urban areas and boost overall security infrastructure in the country.

Through the budget, the Government of India has also emphasized the implementation of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning into the governing mechanism of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, which is a welcoming step.

With its open-source video management solution, Milestone Systems has been an industry leader in managing major security infrastructures and government projects like India’s Smart City mission. The Milestone platform can integrate and manage innumerable devices for solutions ranging from security to threat detection. These budget allocations will certainly help the security industry to thrive and make our city more secure.
